Welcome

On behalf of Governor Henry, we invite you to attend REVOLUTION 2009: Oklahoma’s Wind Energy Conference.

As State Secretaries of Energy, Environment and Commerce, we share a vision, passion, and commitment to establish policies that result in increased energy security, a sustainable energy future, sound environmental stewardship and the development of economic opportunity activities for all Oklahomans. Under Governor Henry’s leadership, we are advancing the discussion about the United States’ energy future. In Oklahoma, we have implemented supply side initiatives focused on advanced biofuels, natural gas, wind, and transmission. For example, in 2007 the State created the Oklahoma Bioenergy Center, a forty million dollar investment to commercialize advanced biofuel production. In addition, we are committed to managing energy demand by changing utility regulation to help encourage conservation and efficiency, and implement statewide demand-management programs. And finally, Oklahoma boasts several wind developments, five of which generate in excess of 100 megawatts of electricity each.

Opportunities abound in Oklahoma.  Now is the time to explore our State’s potential, establish policies and remove barriers to better support the emerging wind energy industry and take steps to help landowners, developers, and wind component manufacturers and suppliers find success in Oklahoma.  Join us in the conversation.

Revolution: Oklahoma Wind Energy Conference will explore the importance of utilizing natural gas, demand-management and efficiency as partners to develop renewable resources. Additionally, we will discuss Oklahoma’s role as a leader in balancing wildlife issues with wind energy development. We will also consider the best ways to capitalize on the economic development opportunities presented by wind energy.

We are excited about the opportunity to further develop alternative and renewable technologies that will allow us to maintain our presence as a leading provider of energy to our nation. We hope you will participate in this important event for our state, and we look forward to seeing you.

Respectfully,
